We believe that acts of good can help the people around you and can even change the world. This Yogathon consists of eight hours of Yoga exercise. The idea is to let the participants understand through experience, that acts of good require persistence and endurance. The whole practice of Yoga was designed to be practical and scientific, to allow your body to adjust and then proceed step by step. We also advocate physical exercise based on scientific practice, to truly exercise your body. To participate in the Yogathon, you just need to choose the sessions suited to your body. This event provides every participant with a chance to be inspired, as Chinese and foreign Yoga instructors guide everyone in exercises together. You have the opportunity to participate in many kinds of interactive and enjoyable sessions. By taking part, you will not only improve yourself, but also improve the lives of people in need. Q: What is Beijing Yogathon 2009?
A: Beijing Yogathon 2009 is a very meaningful event. We will be bringing Beijing's most energetic, and most socially and environmentally conscience groups and individuals together to practice Yoga and help those in need.
Q. Do I need to pay a registration fee to participate in Beijing Yogathon 2009?
A: The registration fee is 180rmb per participant. All proceeds, once event expenses are deducted, will be donated to a micro-finance organization in the earth quake hit region of Sichuan, and managed by Wokai. In three months, Wokai will provide an update on those who have benefited from the micro-loans we have helped to fund.
Q: Which organization will Beijing Yogathon 2009 be helping?
A: All donations, once event expenses have been deducted, will be donated to Wokai. Wokai will then use these funds, through a microfinance organization, to provide farmers in Sichuan & Inner Mongolia with micro-loans. (These funds are considered loans to Wokai’s partners, but to Wokai, these are donations. The interest generated from these donations will be used to pay employees and overhead for Wokai’s field partners.) The entire donation process is transparent. As soon as Wokai receives a donation, the recipient's name will be placed on the Yogathon website. All Yogathon participants will be given a username and password to access the site and check where and how their money is being used. This amount will continuously be used to benefit micro-loan recipients in poor regions of China.
Q: Can I form a team to take part in Beijing Yogathon 2009?
A: Certainly! Please invite your friends and register your team! All registered Yoga practitioners are qualified for the Yogathon.
Q: I have never practiced Yoga before. Can I still join?
A: This will be a very meaningful start for you. Our assistant trainers will give you individual guidance.
Q: Can my kids join the Yogathon?
A: Kids are welcome, but they also need to be registered. We recommend that all participants under age 16 be accompanied by one adult.
Q: How many people will take part in this event?
A: We aim to recruit 100 participants in Beijing Yogathon 2009.
Q: I am a Yoga instructor. Can I come teach Yoga?
A: We welcome all qualified Yoga instructors to join our event and demonstrate their teaching techniques. An interactive session will be their platform. We also need instructors to assist beginners. Please contact us if you are interested.
